    Leirnámskeið í Sköpunarmiðstöðinni

    Grunnámskeið í leirmótun þar sem þátttakendur fá að kynnast leirnum, eiginleikum hans og möguleikum.
    Kenndar verða helstu aðferðir í handmótun og skreytingu leirmuna. Þátttakendur hanna sína eigin leirmuni og móta þá með þeim aðferðum sem þeir tengja best við og mála með leirlitum ef við á.
    Á síðari hluta námskeiðsins verða hlutirnir málaðir með glerungi. Tveim dögum síðar verður svo hægt að koma og sjá lokaútkomuna og fara með hlutina sína heim.

    Ceramics Workshop at the Fish Factory / Creative Centre

    April 11–12 (3–6 pm)
    April 29 (5–7 pm)

    A beginner’s ceramics course where participants will get to know clay, its properties, and its possibilities.

    The main techniques of hand-building and clay decoration will be taught. Participants will design their own ceramic pieces and shape them using the methods they connect with most, and paint them with underglazes where appropriate.

    In the later part of the course, the pieces will be glazed. Two days later, participants will be able to come and see the final results and take their works home.

    Price: 5,000 ISK for the full workshop

    Garðar Eðvaldsson – jazz concert

    On Saturday 9th of June, we hosted a jazz concert by saxophonist Garðar Eðvaldsson and his band here at the Fish Factory. The band was touring around Iceland and we were fortunate to host their fascinating concert in our concert hall.

    The band plays original music that has been composed specifically for them. Icelandic Garðar has been studying in Basel for the past three years and will be finishing his BMus degree this summer. He has been studying under the great musicians of the New York scene today. Other members in the band are Swiss Tapiva Svosve and Xaver Rüegg playing alto saxophone and double-bass, and Phelan Burgoyne from the UK on drums.

    Con Murphy – The Fjord EP Launch

    On a beautiful Saturday night, the last day of March 2018, we were lucky to host a wonderful EP Launch concert here at the Creative Centre.

    Indie folk singer-songwriter Con Murphy came all the way from Ireland back to Stöðvarfjörður to play the first, exclusive launch concert of his debut EP “The Fjord”. On the stage, he was accompanied by his partner Gráinne Glavey playing the piano. The title song “The Fjord” was written in here in 2015 and by Con’s words the track is “full of love and admiration for his dear friend and the life he and his partner have carved out for themselves in the Eastern Fjords of Iceland.”
